1. Our Nursery Manager José is one of the Most Knowledgeable and Approachable Plant Experts Around
José, our knowledgeable and friendly Nursery manager “loves to take care of living things.” Growing up planting corn with his grandfather, José has a long history of working with plants. Having worked for Tahoe Outdoor Living for 10 years, he is one of the most knowledgeable and approachable plant experts in town, hands down!
2. We’ll get you inspired!
Is your garden lacking that little something? If you want a plant that fits your very own microclimate, then this is the nursery for you. We stock a huge variety of healthy, beautiful shrubs and trees, both native and ornamental, in bright vibrant colors.
3. Beautiful Cool Green Sod For Great Results
Many nurseries don’t carry sod and we sell only the best for our region. ‘West Turf Reno’ is a variety with lower clay content that delivers better results in the Lake Tahoe area than other types of sod.
4. Trees to Fit Any Budget
We have a vast variety of species and sizes to fit any budget; small or large. We are happy to deliver directly to your home for $40 and install a water-wise tree drip system for a minimum cost. Click here to learn more about the services offered by our Irrigation Division.
5. The Healthiest Sustainably Grown Plants In Tahoe
At Tahoe Outdoor Living, we are proud to partner with plant nurseries that not only grow wonderful healthy plants but also utilize sustainable practices. By saving and reusing water on their properties they work to limit pressure on our water supplies, an important and proactive need in the face of the western drought.
6. Summer Blooming Perennials for a Burst of Color
Looking for hard to find plants or colors? We have Pink and Blue Phlox, White Catmint, and other plants in unusual colors. Make your garden standout this summer.
7. Sierra Natives That Are Beautiful And Easy to Maintain
Want to create an authentic, truly water-wise ‘Sierra landscape’? We are the only nursery to stock Mule Ears, Indian Rhubarb, Asters, California Fuchsia, and Mountain Pride. We also have the much sought after Creeping Buttercup and Blue Flax. Bring the forest meadow to your backyard!
8. Rabbit Tolerant Plants
While very cute, those pesky rabbits are running riot in Lake Tahoe this season. Consider growing clover for them to nibble on, and then plant flowers that they are not so happy to eat, like some striking Foxgloves or Coneflowers.
9. Hardy Vegetables and Herbs
We only buy the hardiest of veggies that are resistant to late freezes, common in the Lake Tahoe region. You can be guaranteed that our popular herbs and veggies will grow great in your garden and last until the fall- lettuce, mint, oregano, and peppers.
10. Instant Color
Check out our hanging baskets. These are a beautiful and easy way to brighten your garden. With immediate gratification and color to admire for the rest of the summer- only $24.
Don’t delay, pop on by and say hi to José!
